Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day is a wonderful tradition at Western.  This day, usually in April or May, is set aside for the senior class members to invite their grandparents, or other special individuals, to come to Western for part of the school day.

The morning begins with the seniors meeting and greeting their special guests before chapel.  Coffee and cookies and many great memories are shared.  Then the group is seated for chapel, while the rest of the student body joins them in the auditorium.  Senior class officers take a leadership role in conducting these chapel activities.  The chapel includes a time of group singing and praise.  This time is an obvious testimony to God's goodness in Western's past and present as voices of the generations join together to praise Him.

When the chapel is concluded, grandparents are encouraged to tour the school, with their grandchild acting as tour guide.  Stops can be made along the way in various classrooms to observe, introduce teachers to grandparents, or just become more familiar with the Western daily routine.  This special time together culminates with a delicious meal, prepared by Western's cooks, in the cafeteria.
