High school is such an important time to get young people to think critically about their world, their faith, and what role they will play in God's Kingdom.  Because I believe that everything belongs to God, I also believe that nothing (including reading, writing, and research) can be taught without mentioning our faith.  Literature and writing deal with deep human emotions and timeless themes—things that need the lens of a Christian worldview to guide learners.  I think that Western does a great job of meeting the academic and spiritual needs of our students, and I am excited to be a part of that.  I currently work part-time in the LMC at Western, helping students find the resources they need.  I also teach the dual-enrollment English class to seniors, am a member of the technology committee, and recently took on the role of curriculum director here.  While I do miss being in a classroom all day, I am enjoying my new roles and the new challenges they bring.

I am a graduate of Dordt College, with a BA in English. I am also working my way through my Masters in Education, also at Dordt.  My husband, Jason, and I live in Rock Valley, Iowa.  We have two wonderful girls, Harper and Reese, who are more joy (and more work!) than we ever dreamed.   In my spare time, I enjoy reading, golfing, and spending time with family at the Lakes or at a campground.  Lamentations 3:22-24 and its reassurance of God's faithfulness is a special passage to me.
